Getting Around David is Easy & Convenient
Here's everything you need to know about the four main ways to get around David and reach the wider Chiriquí region.
Option 01
Taxi
Taxis are abundant here in David! Please let us know if you would like to arrange a taxi and we can recommend a driver whom you can text to request a ride though WhatsApp.
- Taxis in David are regulated, with standard pricing to transport you from one neighborhood to another. Taxis from Pool Guest Houses can range from $2.50 to $5. Airport to our place is between $8–10.
- Before agreeing to a taxi ride, always ask what the price is to "Villa Mercedes" before getting in.
- Please note, if you ask your taxi driver to take multiple stops that require them to wait for you, the price will go up. It's best to arrange with the taxi driver if this is the case to get an idea of the cost.
- Taxi drivers can also do trips to Boquete and outlying areas. Please contact your taxi service on WhatsApp to arrange a time and price.
Option 02
InDrive App
- The InDrive App is the preferred app to call a car (it seems to work better than Uber in David).
- Pay in Cash using InDrive.
- Both Taxis and private drivers use InDrive — so there is no shortage of finding a ride on this app.
- You bid your ride fare on the app and agree to it BEFORE you approve the ride.
Option 03
Local Neighborhood Bus
- The local neighborhood bus travels through our neighborhood (Villa Mercedes) regularly — every 20–30 minutes from Monday to Friday.
- Saturday service comes around every 45 minutes.
- Sunday service is not as reliable (it's suggested to use InDrive on Sundays).
- The local bus fare is $0.35. You pay when you EXIT the bus at your stop.
- The bus stops on the street behind our house — ask us for instructions if this is an option you'd like to explore!
To catch the right bus, look for a bus with ZONA URBANA on the front. The plaque on the front and side window should say NUEVO AMANECER or NVO AMANECER. This route is a loop into David Centro — you can hop on the bus at any point of the route and you will end up back here, in the Villa Mercedes neighborhood.

Car Rentals
- Our recommended car rental company is Perfection Car Rental.
- Rates start weekly with potential for monthly rentals depending on availability.
