The closest and most popular attraction from David is the town of Boquete. Located in the Panamanian highlands, you are only 45 minutes away by car, and 1 hour, 15 minutes by coach bus!
Boca Chica — the Chiriquí Gulf's Island Paradise
Have you ever had a dream where you're on a desert island with nothing but clear turquoise ocean, white sand and palm trees? Dreams come true, here in Boca Chica! 1 hour drive and a 30 minute boat ride and you're there! These are the best ways we've found to get to Boca Chica:
Drive yourself in your rental car

- Park your car at one of the many parking areas — some car parks may require a fee.

Walk down the steep hill — ask one of the dock workers if you can join a boat tour!
- Boat tours depart the dock between 8am–9am and return to shore between 3pm–4pm.
- Group boat tours are $25/person + tip (usually $2–5 is good!)

Volcán, Cerro Punta & Tierras Altas — Refreshing, Bountiful and Serene
Volcán, Cerro Punta and Tierras Altas — The Bountiful Highlands Await You
Volcán and Cerro Punta are located in the District of Tierras Altas ("The High Lands") — The climate is much cooler than David, so a sweater is a good idea to bring while on your day trip! This area is considered to be the "Breadbasket of Panamá" as nearly all of the produce in the country is grown in this area. You can enjoy the flower festival in September featuring life-sized sculptures made entirely from fresh flowers! The rest of the year, the town of Volcán is quite cute and pleasant with so much to explore.
Bocas del Toro — Surf, Sand and Party
Bocas del Toro is the next province over from Chiriquí — This is not a day trip but you can easily get here using David as a launch point! Here's what you need to know to get to the islands of Bocas del Toro from here:
